Methodist Health System Surgical Critical Care Program

Stipend and Benefits – 2022-2023

  • PGY6 - $71,712.00


  • Three weeks of vacation per year (total of 20 days)

Sick Leave

  • 10 days sick leave
  • Family and Medical leave – Fellow may be eligible for up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave for birth, adoption, or seriously ill family members. Fellows should be aware that all combined leave exceeding 30 days will lengthen the residency beyond the usual expected date of completion in accordance with the ACGME Program guidelines.

Book Allowance

  • Fellows may spend up to $300 per year book allowance for medical books. This amount does not include the cost of books supplied by the program or textbooks required for program-related examinations. The fellow receives a $400.00 technology fee that can be used for a smartphone or tablet.


  • Professional liability coverage, group life insurance, and disability insurance will be provided by Methodist Health System.
  • Hospitalization insurance for physician and immediate family (spouse and children) will be provided by Methodist Health System, under the Enhanced/Tax Saver Plan. Plan is effective the first day of employment.
  • Dental and vision insurance are an optional benefit for fellows and dependents at Methodist group rates.

NRMP Guidelines for Applicants Applying to Programs

  • If matched with program- prior to start of the fellowship will need to have current ACLS, BLS certification
  • Standard background check
  • At time of physical supply proof of Covid vaccine 1 & 2
  • Sample contract will be supplied with agenda prior to your interview
