Interpretation Services

Assistance for the Deaf or Hard of Hearing

To ensure effective communication with patients and their companions who are deaf or hard of hearing, we provide appropriate auxiliary aids and services free of charge, such as:

  • Video remote interpreting (VRI) laptops
  • American Sign Language interpreters upon request
  • TTYs
  • Written materials
  • Open and closed captioning of most hospital programs.

Assistance for the limited-English proficient

To ensure effective communication with patients and their companions who are limited-English proficient (LEP), we provide appropriate services free of charge, such as:

  • Interpretation phones with access to more than 240 different languages and dialects
  • In-house Spanish-speaking medical interpreters
  • In-person interpreters for foreign languages other than Spanish, by appointment
  • Video remote interpreting (VRI) laptops with 34 spoken languages.
