Why Choose Methodist Dallas for Women’s Health?
At Methodist Dallas Medical Center, our knowledgeable team works together
to give you the care you deserve. We diagnose, manage, and treat even
the most complex conditions and diseases. We also offer preventive care
and compassionate support. Highlights of our program include:
-
Expertise in breast surgery and reconstruction: Surgeons at Methodist Dallas specialize in breast conserving surgery, mastectomy,
and breast reconstruction. We use advanced surgical techniques to perform
these procedures and offer follow-up care.
-
Robotic-assisted gynecologic surgery: The specially trained surgeons on staff have experience using the da Vinci®
Robotic Surgery System to perform minimally invasive surgery. These techniques
are very precise and use smaller incisions. This offers a shorter recovery
period and fewer complications than traditional (open) surgery.
-
Advanced diagnostic imaging technology: Experienced radiologists offer bone density scans, image-guided biopsies,
and 3D technology that produces more detailed images.
-
High-risk breast cancer surveillance program: We’re passionate about helping women understand their unique risk
of breast cancer. We offer genetic testing, imaging studies, and a thorough
review of your family history to assess your risk. Then, we develop a
care plan just for you.
-
Convenient mammograms: We aim to make routine breast screenings as convenient as possible. That’s
why we offer Monday Night Mammograms in the spa-like atmosphere at our
breast center, as well as a mobile mammography service.
Women’s Health Conditions We Treat
We diagnose and treat conditions, diseases, and disorders affecting women’s
health. These include:
- Abnormal pap tests, which may be a sign of a human papillomavirus (HPV)
infection or another type of sexually transmitted disease (STD)
- Breast cancer
- Endometriosis, an abnormal tissue growth outside of the uterus
- Gynecologic cancer
- Ovarian cysts, which are fluid-filled sacs that develop on the ovary
- Vaginal vault prolapse, which causes the vagina to drop down from its normal position
- Uterine fibroids, growths in the uterus that are usually benign (noncancerous)

Advanced imaging technology
Our team of radiologists and women’s health specialists come together
to diagnose and determine treatment. We use advanced imaging technology
to detect health conditions as early as possible, when they are easier to treat.
In the process of diagnosis, we use:
-
3D mammograms and galactogram, a type of mammogram that uses a contrast dye to examine
the milk ducts
- 3D stereotactic-guided biopsy, to remove a tissue sample so a lab can check
for cancerous cells
- Bone density exams
- Breast ultrasound, a test that uses sound waves to create images of breast tissue
- Fine-needle aspiration, removing a sample of abnormal breast tissue to
send to a lab for tests
- Pelvic ultrasounds to detect uterine fibroids, gynecologic cancer, and
other conditions
- Ultrasound-guided biopsy, removing a sample of abnormal breast tissue guided
by real-time ultrasound images
Making mammograms more convenient
We offer a
mobile mammography program to help women in our community have convenient access to routine
breast cancer screenings. Our radiologists visit businesses, churches,
and community centers and perform mammograms in our mobile van.
To encourage more women to get these imaging tests, we also offer Monday
Night Mammograms. These evenings are designed specifically for busy moms,
women who work during business hours, and anyone who may find it challenging
to get a mammogram during the day.
At Monday Night Mammograms, we offer aromatherapy and calming music. Massage
therapists may also help women relax with a soothing massage.

the surgeon uses a robot to control tiny surgical instruments. With this
technology, procedures are more precise and there is a reduced risk of
complications.
Minimally invasive techniques require smaller incisions and involve less
recovery time than traditional (open) surgery. We offer several robotic-assisted
