Advanced Diagnostic Capabilities

At Methodist Dallas, we use advanced technology and imaging studies to help diagnose brain and spine conditions. These tools enable us to develop a strong treatment plan.

Radiology specialists use the EOS imaging system, which produces full-body, 3D X-ray images. EOS images also use a low dose of radiation. This tool helps our team of specialists to plan treatments for even the most complex conditions, such as severe scoliosis.

We also use advanced artificial intelligence (AI) technology to help detect strokes that result from blood clots and aneurysms (bulging blood vessels that can burst). This technology enables us to diagnose and evaluate stroke so we can deliver timely treatments.

Brain and Spine Treatments We Offer

As leaders in neurosurgery and advanced spine care, we offer treatments that aren’t widely available elsewhere. These include minimally, or noninvasive options and innovative techniques using sophisticated technology.

We use the StealthStation™ S8 surgical navigation system for neurosurgery procedures that treat herniated discs, osteoporosis, scoliosis, arthritis of the spine, and other conditions. This software integrates imaging technology, navigational tools, and real-time data. It allows us to plan and perform neurosurgery procedures more precisely than ever before. A higher level of precision can translate to better surgical outcomes for our patients.

Our team also specializes in a variety of surgical procedures on the spine. Some of the most common spine procedures we perform include:

  • Disc reconstruction and replacement, procedures to repair a damaged or herniated disc or replace it with an artificial disc
  • Endoscopic spinal surgery, a minimally invasive technique allowing the surgeon to repair or remove a disc using tiny tools inserted through a small incision
  • Laminectomy, laminoplasty, and laminotomy, which are spinal decompression surgeries that relieve pressure on the spinal cord
  • Spinal fracture repair and spinal reconstructive surgery
  • Spinal cord stimulation, a treatment for chronic pain where an implanted device stimulates the spinal nerves to block pain signals from reaching the brain
  • Spinal fusion, a procedure that fuses two (or more) vertebrae together
  • Spinal tumor removal

Comprehensive Radiopharmaceutical Therapy Center of Excellence

The Methodist Brain & Spine Institute is a Comprehensive Radiopharmaceutical Therapy Center of Excellence. We earned this designation from the Society of Nuclear Medicine & Molecular Imaging (SNMMI). This distinction indicates that we have the qualifications and expertise to deliver advanced treatments for tumors on the brain and the spine.

Radiopharmaceutical therapy is a targeted treatment that uses radiation to destroy tumors. Localized radiation delivery is very precise and enables us to attack cancer cells while sparing healthy surrounding tissue.
