Methodist Dallas Auxiliary

Serving the Community for More Than 95 years

As the original Auxiliary, the Methodist Dallas Medical Center Auxiliary has watched Methodist Health System blossom into the organization it is today. In April 2010, the Methodist Dallas Auxiliary was incorporated as a nonprofit 501(c)3, making it a separate entity of Methodist Dallas. In the past, the Auxiliary has raised funds for supplies, equipment, programs, services, and its members have volunteered countless hours.

Methodist Dallas Auxiliary Scholarships

In the 1950s, there was a critical shortage of nurses, much like today, and the Auxiliary stepped up to bring some relief to the shortfall. Miss Lela Putnam led the Auxiliary’s campaign to secure nursing scholarships, and then in 1966 a second scholarship was formed in honor of Mrs. Ed Wesson, a prominent member of the Auxiliary. Both of these scholarships are still active today.

To apply for the Putnum-Glover Nursing Scholarship or the Mrs. Ed Wesson Scholarship Fund, you must meet these requirements:

  1. Scholarship recipients must be a resident of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.
  2. Scholarship applications for the fall semester must be received by March 15 and scholarship applications for the spring semester must be received by October 15.
  3. Scholarship applications will be considered and approved by the Methodist Dallas Auxiliary Scholarship Committee members. Two $500 nursing scholarships and two $500 health career scholarships are available each semester.
  4. Scholarship funds must be paid directly to the nursing school, college, or educational institution.
  5. Each scholarship recipient can receive no more than two scholarships.

  • Popcorn stand
    • Once a month on a Friday, the Auxiliary sells fresh bags of popcorn for $1 in the main lobby. Volunteers work two- or four-hour shifts.
  • Gift Shop

    • Restock shelves and unpack merchandise.
    • Work at a pop-up shop. The Auxiliary has several mini pop-up shops for special holidays, including Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Easter, etc., as well as for special events. Typically, the pop-up shops run from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. during the week and on weekends.
    • For crafty volunteers, the Gift Shop is always looking for donated quality products to sell, such as handmade Christmas cards, handmade bags, and handmade masks to name a few. To inquire about making a donation, please email mdmcauxgiftshop@gmail.com.
  • Methodist Dallas Medical Center
