About Bhavisha Bhakta Nunez, DO

Bhavisha Bhakta, DO, has practiced as an OB/Gyn since 2019. Dr. Bhakta was born in Zambia, and moved to Texas with her family when she was nine years old. Dr. Bhakta completed her undergraduate degree from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin, and her graduate degree from the University of North Texas Health Science Center - Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. She went on to attend the University of North Texas Health Science Center - Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, earning her medical degree. Following graduation, Dr. Bhakta completed her Obstetrics & Gynecology Residency at the University of Missouri in Kansas City. Her tenacity and dedication to women’s health not only allowed her to become the first generation in her family to graduate with a higher education, but she also became the first physician in her family.

Dr. Bhakta is very passionate about providing education and early gynecological care for adolescent girls and young women, setting the foundation for patients to be confident and informed throughout their healthcare journey. Dr. Bhakta specializes in using the DaVinci Robotic System during minimally invasive surgery. She also provides contraceptive counseling, and addresses issues such as uterine bleeding, infertility issues, endometriosis, PCOS, pregnancy, and high risk pregnancies.

Outside of work, she enjoys playing sand volleyball and tennis, running, dancing, and binge watching Netflix shows. She is also fluent in Gujarati, conversationally fluent in Hindi, a self-professed Thai food fanatic, and enjoys spending time with her husband, David.
