Auxiliary

Community Giving Makes a Difference

Methodist Charlton AuxiliaryThe Methodist Charlton Medical Center Auxiliary is a group of concerned citizens and employees who have come together to raise awareness for the hospital. The objective of the Auxiliary is to stimulate the interest of people in the spirit of serving, with compassion, integrity, and respect. Each month, members gather for a general meeting which includes a guest speaker, information on Auxiliary events, and a chance to socialize with others.

Auxiliary members participate in various capacities such as staffing hospital events, working on committees, and serving in leadership roles. Any person 14 years old and above is welcome to become an Auxiliary member. General meetings are held the second Tuesday of the month from 12:30 to 2 p.m., except for summer breaks.

Formed in August 2010, the Methodist Charlton Auxiliary exceeded its fundraising goals for its first fiscal year, raising $5,000. Its gift-basket drawing, Tour of Tables, and holiday bazaar have brought financial and moral support to the hospital that Auxiliary President Marlies Peregory says has "always been so good about giving back to the community."

She urges potential volunteers to remember that every contribution helps. "If it's baking three dozen cookies and raising $15, well that $15 can cover an immunization," she says. "It can go toward somebody's mammogram. It can help cover someone's ER visit. It takes a lot of 'little' to get 'big.'"
