Patient Care Technician Program Information:
- Must be 18 years or older and have a GED or Highschool Diploma to apply.
- The first 7 weeks will be Monday - Friday from 8am to 4:30pm

There are three participating campuses; Charlton, Dallas, and Mansfield.

Jobs.MethodistHealthSystem.org. Once you apply, you will have to go through an interview process with
a nurse manager. Once hired on, you will be able to start the program.
- Methodist Health System’s Patient Care Technician (PCT) Intern Program
is a 12 month program focused on meeting all requirements for the Patient
Care Technician National certification. Upon completion of PCT program,
the PCT Intern is eligible to take the National Healthcareer Association
(NHA) Certification Exam for Patient Care Technician. Becoming a certified
PCT is one of the primary goals of the program.

Within the first 11 Weeks of the program, the PCT Intern will complete
course work, in-person classes, self-paced online NHA courses, skills
training and precepted - clinical shifts
- The course content will include Nurse Assisting, Phlebotomy, and EKG
- Nurse Assisting modules will guide you through the role of a health care
working and the tasks required to perform as a PCT.
- Phlebotomy Module where you will learn to draw blood from patients and
collect specimens for laboratory testing
- Electrocardiography Module where you will learn the skill of performing
ECG on patients to assess heart rhythms
- Certification testing support with an instructor
- Clinical Preceptorship on their hired nursing unit with a Methodist PCT
preceptor for the hands-on skill training in direct patient care
- The PCT Intern will be required to successfully complete the first 11-weeks
of the PCT program for continued employment with Methodist as a PCT.
- The program is also designed to provide opportunities for professional
development through classes and mentoring for the entire length of the
program. The PCT intern will be expected to meet each quarter and these
dates will be provided at the end of the 11 weeks. Some examples of these
workshops include de-escalation techniques, time management, financial
management, wellness/resiliency, infection prevention, and patient experience.
Attendance is required.
- The PCT Intern will be required to complete all requirements of the 12
month program including in-person classes, skills labs, practice tests/review
sessions, and educational plans provided, & precepted clinical shifts
and professional development workshops provided by Methodist to remain
in good standing with Methodist Health System.
- The PCT Intern should remain in full-time status for the first 12 months
to obtain 2000 hours of the on-the-job learning during the apprenticeship.
