We are excited to introduce our new name, which will now proudly reflect the communities we serve. While the name is changing, our commitment to compassionate, quality healthcare remains the same.
We value our relationships with the physicians, providers, and business partners in our community, and we want to make this transition as seamless as possible. The following FAQs outline what this change means for you, including any updates to referrals, billing, and authorizations.
Methodist Charlton has become a destination hospital with exceptional quality outcomes and a trusted reputation across the Best Southwest region. It is no longer the small community hospital it was when it opened in 1975. Now it’s time for a new name that better reflects the communities we serve today and the future we are building together. The name Methodist Southwest Medical Center aligns with the geographic naming of our other hospitals and reinforces our deep and lasting commitment to the Best Southwest region.
No, this is a name change only. Ownership, leadership, tax status, and business operations remain unchanged unless otherwise communicated.
The name change takes effect at midnight on August 1, 2026. You may see signage changing at Methodist Charlton beginning July 1.
Yes. Existing contracts and agreements remain in effect.
No changes are required. Continue referring patients as you do today.
No. All privileges, credentials, and medical staff memberships will remain the same.
You can reassure patients that:
• Hospital ownership and operations are not changing
• The physicians and care teams are not changing as a result of the change
• Only the name is changing
• Suggested language: “Methodist Charlton is changing its name on August 1 to better reflect the communities they serve. Everything else remains the same, including your care team and services. The new name will be Methodist Southwest Medical Center, and remains part of the Methodist Health System”
If you have a batch or real time interface with Methodist’s EMR system, Epic, on August 1, the long name will change to Methodist Southwest Medical Center. Most interfaces do not contain the long name, but rather use the mnemonic of MCMC to designate Methodist Charlton. The mnemonic of MCMC will remain the same in Epic and in the interface. When sending or receiving data, we will use MCMC just like we do today. Please review your systems to see if you do store or use the name Methodist Charlton Medical Center. Particularly important is to change the site or place of service name on your bills to Methodist Southwest Medical Center . This ensures it matches the name the insurance carriers have on record.
