Advanced Maternal, Fetal, and Newborn Care

Our obstetrician and neonatologist team treats complex medical conditions and complications that affect pregnant mothers, unborn babies, and newborns.

Level III maternity center for women with high-risk pregnancies

Methodist Richardson is a designated Level III maternity center (Level IV is the highest designation) by the Texas Department of State Health Services. We’re prepared to provide specialized care for health complications that may affect you or your baby during pregnancy, labor, or delivery.

If your doctor tells you that your pregnancy is high-risk, we closely monitor the health of you and your baby. We treat underlying conditions to help reduce the risk of complications and encourage natural labor. However, your doctor may recommend a Cesarean section (C-section) if they feel it is important for you and your baby.

Level III NICU for newborns and infants with complex care needs

Methodist Richardson is a Texas Department of State Health Services designated Level III neonatal facility (Level IV is the highest designation). If your baby needs medical care, our neonatal specialists have easy access from the delivery room to the NICU.

Your baby may need additional care from neonatal specialists if they:

  • Are born prematurely
  • Are underweight
  • Have an infection
  • Need respiratory support
  • Require surgical treatment

Knowledgeable Lactation Support

Breastfeeding is important for your baby’s nutritional needs and overall health. At Methodist Richardson, we understand that breastfeeding can be challenging for many women. That’s why we make lactation support a priority as part of our postnatal care.

We are a Texas Ten Step facility for breastfeeding education and assistance. The Texas Department of State Health Services and the Texas Hospital Association recognize our commitment to lactation support.

We are also a designated drop-off location for Mother’s Milk Bank of North Texas. If you aren’t able to breastfeed, you may qualify to receive donated breast milk.
