Advanced diagnostic imaging technology

At Methodist Midlothian, we know that an accurate diagnosis allows us to develop the most effective treatment plan for you. We work as a team to offer routine screenings to help detect health concerns early, when they’re easier to treat. To diagnose women’s health conditions, we use advanced technology, including:

  • 3D mammogram
  • Breast ultrasound, which uses sound waves to create images of the tissues inside the breast
  • Galactogram, a type of mammogram that uses a contrast dye to evaluate the milk ducts
  • Fine-needle aspiration, a procedure that removes fluid from abnormal breast tissue that a lab tests for signs of cancer
  • Ultrasound-guided biopsy, a test that uses ultrasound technology to remove a sample of abnormal breast tissue
  • 3D stereotactic-guided biopsy, which uses mammography to remove abnormal tissue so a lab can check for cancerous cells
  • Bone density exams

Robotic-assisted gynecologic surgery

The skilled team of gynecological surgeons at Methodist Midlothian performs minimally invasive procedures to treat uterine fibroids, vaginal prolapse, and gynecologic cancer. We have advanced training in robotic-assisted surgery techniques using the da Vinci® Robotic Surgery System.

During robotic-assisted minimally invasive surgery, surgeons use a robot to control tiny surgical instruments. This technology allows us to make procedures more precise while reducing the risk of complications. Minimally invasive techniques require smaller incisions and lead to less recovery time than traditional (open) surgery. Our robotic-assisted surgeries include:

Bringing mammograms to women in the community

Through our mobile mammography program, we make routine breast cancer screenings as convenient as possible. Radiologists from Methodist Midlothian visit churches, schools, businesses, and community centers to provide mammograms to women in our community. Our goal is to encourage more women to get these imaging tests.
