Diagnostic Imaging
The team at Methodist Southlake includes specialists from multiple practices that form a comprehensive group of caregivers to provide for patient needs with compassion and precision.
We offer a broad range of imaging procedures, including:
- X-ray: Quick and painless exam that produces images to see the structures inside your body. X-rays can help determine bone issues such as fractures, infections, and arthritis.
- Computed Axial Tomography (CAT) Scan: A CT scan uses cross-sectional images or slices of bones, blood vessels, and soft tissue inside your body. A CT scan can be used to visualize almost all parts of your body and can be used to diagnose injury or disease. The results of your CT scan will be utilized by your medical provider to determine treatment plans. These scans produce detailed images ranging in size from the entire body down to a section of the brain.
- Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI): MRI is a non-invasive field that uses magnetic fields and radio waves to produce detailed images of tissues, skeletal system, and organs within your body. The results of your MRI can guide your medical provider to determine the best treatment plan.
- Nuclear Medicine: Imaging in nuclear medicine provides unique information that many times cannot be obtained using other imaging exams. This may offer the potential to identify the disease in its earliest stage. Nuclear Medicine imaging uses small amounts of radioactive materials that are typically injected into the bloodstream which travels through the area being examined and gives off energy in the form of gamma rays. A special camera and computer detect the rays to create images of the inside of your body.
- Ultrasound: By using sound waves, an ultrasound scan is able to create an image of internal organs. It is regularly used to monitor fetuses during pregnancy, and also used to diagnose abnormalities in other organs such as the, kidneys, liver, and bladder, Doppler Ultrasound is a specialized ultrasound technique used to evaluate blood flow through arteries and veins within extremities or organs, such as liver and kidney.
Other procedures we offer include:
- Coronary CT Angiogram
- CT – Computed Tomography
- CT Calcium Scoring
- Fluoroscopy
- MRA – Magnetic Resonance Angiography
