About Owais Idris, MD

Owais Idris, MD, is a board-certified interventional cardiologist. He specializes in high-risk coronary artery interventions, complete total occlusion (CTO) interventions, and peripheral arterial interventions. Dr. Idris treats a range of heart disorders, including hypertensive heart disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease (including aortic stenosis and regurgitation), and arrhythmias (including atrial fibrillation). He is passionate about preventative cardiac care and is dedicated to helping patients prevent, understand, and manage their cardiovascular conditions.

Dr. Idris received his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where he graduated at the young age of 19. He then earned his medical degree from the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine in Coral Gables, Florida. Dr. Idris completed his internal medicine residency and cardiovascular disease fellowship at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio. He also received fellowship training in interventional cardiology from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. 

Dr. Idris is board-certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, and interventional cardiology. He is able to perform minimally invasive procedures to treat blocked arteries, including complex cases. He also performs procedures such as PFO and ASD closure, to repair small holes in the heart, and treats circulation problems in the legs and other parts of the body. He also cares for patients with blood clots, including deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism. 

Outside of work, Dr. Idris enjoys spending time with his wife and three children. He stays active by playing sports such as tennis, football, basketball, and soccer. He has been in practice since 2005, and also enjoys teaching medical students and young physicians in his spare time.
