About Maria Martinez-Santos, MD
Maria Martinez-Santos, MD, is a fellowship-trained complex gastrointestinal surgeon with Trinity Surgical Consultants in Richardson, Texas, specializing in advanced gastrointestinal and general surgery.
Her expertise encompasses benign and malignant diseases of the esophagus, stomach, and colon, including GERD, hiatal and paraesophageal hernias, achalasia, Zenker’s diverticulum, diverticular disease, and esophageal, gastric, and colorectal cancers. With advanced training in robotic, laparoscopic, and endoscopic surgery, including POEM, she offers minimally invasive approaches and performs complex gastrointestinal procedures, including esophagectomy, partial and total gastrectomy, and colectomy.
Her practice also includes hernia surgery and complex abdominal wall reconstruction, as well as comprehensive general surgery, including gallbladder and appendix surgery.
Dr. Martinez-Santos earned her medical degree with high honors from Universidad Iberoamericana in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. She completed her general surgery residency at Washington University School of Medicine, training at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and St. Louis Children’s Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, followed by fellowship training in Complex Gastrointestinal Surgery at Methodist Richardson Medical Center.
She welcomes referrals for routine and complex surgical conditions, particularly patients who may benefit from minimally invasive, multidisciplinary, or advanced gastrointestinal surgical care.
