About Ben Elsbernd, MD
Ben Elsbernd, MD, is a board-certified gastroenterologist who provides comprehensive care for esophageal diseases and disorders of the upper digestive tract (foregut), as well as functional gastrointestinal disorders. He specializes in neurogastroenterology and motility, and received specialized training from the American Neurogastroenterology and Motility Society (ANMS).
Dr. Elsbernd treats conditions like acid reflux, difficulty swallowing, eosinophilic esophagitis, and esophageal motility disorders. He also provides care for patients experiencing symptoms following foregut procedures. Dr. Elsbernd performs specialized GI procedures, including high-resolution manometry, esophageal pH/impedance testing, endoFLIP, and upper endoscopy with dilation.
Dr. Elsbernd earned his undergraduate degree in cellular and molecular biology from the University of Texas at Austin. He then received his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. Dr. Elsbernd then completed internal medicine residency and gastroenterology fellowship training at UT Southwestern. He has been practicing gastroenterology since 2020.
Outside of work, Dr. Elsbernd enjoys reading, running, cooking at home, and spending time with his wife and two children. He has two family pets – a goldendoodle named Poppy, and a calico cat named Olive.
