Abdul El Chafic, MD, joined Methodist Richardson Medical Center as Medical Director of Advanced Endoscopy. He was previously the Director of Endoscopic Innovation and Training at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans.
Dr. El Chafic completed his residency in internal medicine and fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology at Indiana University under the mentorship of world-renowned gastroenterologists. He also completed an additional fellowship training in interventional endoscopy focusing on GI malignancies and complex minimally invasive surgical procedures at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia.
Dr. El Chafic has been in practice since 2015, he is board-certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology. He is an active member and received the designation of “Fellow” from main gastroenterological societies (American College of Gastroenterology and American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy). He serves at American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy committee.
Dr. El Chafic is a recognized expert in the field of advanced endoscopy. His expertise includes minimally invasive, non-surgical, endoscopic management of benign and malignant conditions involving the gastrointestinal tract. He has authored and co-authored multiple peer-reviewed articles and book chapters in addition to numerous abstracts. He is frequently invited to speak at regional/national scientific meetings.
