PGY1/PGY2 Health System Pharmacy Administration Residency
Thank you for your interest in the 2-Year PGY1/PGY2 Health-System Pharmacy
Administration and Leadership (HSPAL) Residency program at Methodist Health
System (MHS).
The purpose of our program is to build on the resident's Doctor of Pharmacy
education to develop the needed skillsets of health system pharmacist
responsible for the quality care of patients with a wide range of conditions.
Additionally, as a HSPAL resident you will have the opportunity to collaborate
with many different professionals, lead process improvement projects,
provide patient care through staffing, and develop advanced leadership
skills. The longitudinal structure of the program will develop competence
in high level managerial, supervisory, and leadership responsibilities
to prepare pharmacists for management roles in a variety of health-system
work settings.
Core Outcomes

Develop skillsets needed to provide pharmaceutical care to a wide range
of patient conditions - Design, implement, and manage a safe and effective medication use system
- Apply contemporary quality methodology to the management of pharmacy services
- Lead and manage the health system pharmacy’s human resources

Manage the health system pharmacy financial performance with the context
of the broader health system - Leverage technology and automated systems to optimize the medication-use system

Demonstrate personal leadership qualities and business acumen essential
to operate effectively within the health system and advance the profession
of practice of pharmacy
