$118 Million Methodist Mansfield Patient Care Tower to Bring Jobs, Economic Impact to Area

mansfield buildingToday Methodist Health System celebrated its latest expansion in North Texas during a groundbreaking ceremony for Methodist Mansfield Medical Center’s new patient care tower. Scheduled to open in fall 2015, the new 110,000 square-foot patient care tower will be located at the northwest corner of the existing building. The $118 million project also includes the expansion of support services to the acute care Methodist Mansfield Medical Center. The expansion will feature 34,000 square feet of additional operating rooms, cardiology and gastroenterology services and 64,000 square feet of additional support services including lab, pharmacy, materials management, biomed, sterile processing, to name a few.

“Methodist Health System is excited to begin its expansion of our second patient care tower in Mansfield today,” said Levi Davis, chairman of the Methodist Health System board of directors. “Methodist Mansfield began as a community hospital in 2006, and has nearly doubled its capacity in seven years to meet the needs of area residents. We look forward to expanding our presence and capabilities of providing high-quality health care to the communities we serve.”

The new tower will initially open with 54 beds, with shell space for 64 more. Construction of the new tower will take place concurrently with normal day-today hospital operations and will be integrated with existing infrastructure. Upon its completion, the hospital will advance cardiology services through electrophysiology cardiac care and cardiac rehabilitation, house a dedicated stroke inpatient unit, have additional inpatient cardiology capacity, expanded inpatient dialysis and offer a 14-bed intensive care unit. The expansion will also include two new surgical suites dedicated to robotic and cardiac care as well as four gastroenterology suites, expanded outpatient cardiopulmonary testing area, as well as the laboratory, pharmacy, sterile processing, information technology, food services and a new two-story atrium lobby and community room.

“Our Methodist Mansfield patient care tower two expansion fully reflects our efforts to expand services to meet the future health care needs of our community, said President of Methodist Mansfield Medical Center John Phillips, FACHE. “We are grateful to the City of Mansfield for their continued support as well as the Methodist Mansfield advisory board for their continued guidance and counsel.”

“Methodist Health System is one of Mansfield’s most important community partners,” said Mansfield Mayor David Cook. “Since our partnership began in 2005, Methodist has expanded medical services and this facility multiple times to accommodate growth in our community. We are excited and grateful for the investment of $118 million in Mansfield and the creation of an additional 200 jobs, with $144 million in aggregate economic impact. We could not have hoped for a better health provider and partner to locate in the city of Mansfield.”

The new patient care tower two will be supported by a $2 million capital campaign – the largest in the hospital’s history. The “Building Brighter. Shining Farther,” campaign will be spearheaded by Jenny Conrad, president of Conrad Creative.

“Many have generously supported Methodist Mansfield Medical Center, contributing to its success and making expansion possible,” said Conrad. “We are grateful for the efforts of the Methodist Health System board, Methodist Mansfield advisory board and Methodist Health System Foundation boards. Today we stand at the threshold of a bright future, and with the support of the community, we can reinforce Methodist Mansfield Medical Center’s standing as the health care provider and hospital for future generations.”

“The patient care tower is perfectly aligned with our mission to improve and save lives through quality compassionate health care,” says Phillips. “It’s all part of our ongoing investment in enhancing health care services and quality of life in the communities we serve.”
