Methodist Surgical Specialists

Surgical Care That Puts You First

When you need a surgical procedure, our hospitals are ready with skilled, personalized care and offer advanced technology and minimally invasive options.

Thanks to the latest evolution in surgical and robotics technologies, there is an effective alternative to traditional open surgery and laparoscopy that allows physicians at Methodist Health System to provide you the best of both approaches.

Robotic-assisted surgery with the da Vinci® Surgical System allows surgeons to operate using only 1 – 2 centimeter incisions, but with greater precision and control than ever before, minimizing the pain and risk associated with large incisions while increasing the likelihood of a fast recovery and excellent clinical outcomes.

Our team is committed to providing you outstanding medical care, and we aim to implement the latest, most effective treatments possible.

The robotic technology offered in the operating rooms at our hospitals provides even more options when you need general surgical care. Robotic-assisted surgery helps give surgeons precise control during surgical procedures, uses smaller incisions, and speeds your recovery.

Some general surgery procedures we perform using robotic technology include:

  • Appendectomy (appendix removal)
  • Cholecystectomy (gallbladder removal)
  • Hernia repair
  • Colectomy

Inflammation in the appendix, known as appendicitis, often requires emergency surgical care. While appendectomy is a routine surgical procedure, we provide you with confidence through experienced surgical teams to care for you.

If you have ongoing symptoms related to a gallbladder condition, surgical removal of the gallbladder may help you find relief. Our hospitals offer gallbladder removal, called a cholecystectomy. This procedure can be performed laparoscopically, as well as using robotic technology that removes the gallbladder through a single, small incision.

If you’ve been diagnosed with a hernia, the general surgeons on the medical staff at our hospitals provide surgical options to repair the hernia and relieve discomfort. Many hernias, including inguinal and incisional hernias, can be treated using minimally invasive or robotic-assisted surgeries that reduce your recovery time.
