Meet Dr. Garff

Shaun Garff, DO, completed his fellowship in sports medicine at Utah Valley
Sports Medicine in Provo, Utah. He previously completed a family medicine
residency at Methodist Charlton Medical Center in Dallas. He earned his
Doctor of Osteopathy degree from A.T. Still University, School of Osteopathic
Medicine, Mesa, Arizona. Dr. Garff holds a Bachelor of Science degree
in exercise science from Brigham Young University. He is board certified
in sports medicine, osteopathic manipulative treatment, and family medicine.
Dr. Garff has served as a team physician for Brigham Young University and
Utah Valley University, as well as the Duncanville Independent School
District. He has volunteered to provide medical coverage at numerous sports
events, including the St. George Ironman, AT&T Byron Nelson, and the
Phoenix Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon. Dr. Garff has conducted clinical
research into the awareness of symptoms and effects of concussions among
high school athletes.
Meet Dr. Okoye

A native of Dallas, Dr. Okoye attended Ursuline Academy and went on to
earn her undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University, followed by
a Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences from the University of North
Texas Health Science Center. She continued her education at Indiana University
School of Medicine in Indianapolis where she earned her medical degree
and completed family medicine residency. She returned to the DFW area
to complete sports medicine fellowship training at John Peter Smith (JPS)
Health Network, the nation’s largest primary care sports medicine
fellowship program, where she served as chief fellow.
Dr. Okoyejoined Methodist Sports Medicine to provide non-surgical orthopedic
care to athletes and active individuals from adolescence to adulthood,
focusing on injuries to bones, muscles, tendons, ligaments, and joints.
She has served as a team physician for Texas Christian University, Texas
Wesleyan University, Southwestern Assemblies of God University, local
independent school districts, and community-sponsored sporting events.
She has also provided physician coverage for various sporting events at
all levels including Golden Gloves, NCAA Gymnastics, and the Women’s
Tennis Association (WTA).
Meet Athletic Trainer Jacob Herring
Jacob Herring, ATC, LAT obtained his bachelor’s degree in athletic
training from Midwestern State University and has been practicing as a
certified athletic trainer since 2015. In addition to assisting in the
sports medicine clinic, he also attends local sporting events to offer
support in the community. Jacob excels in providing injury prevention/treatment,
concussion management, and treating chronic conditions.
