Methodist Dallas Auxiliary

Serving the community for more than 100 years

The Methodist Dallas Medical Center Auxiliary is even older than Methodist Health System! Originally known as the Women's Auxiliary, the philanthropic group has watched Methodist Health System grow into the organization it is today. In April 2010, the Methodist Dallas Auxiliary was incorporated as a nonprofit 501(c)3, making it a separate entity of Methodist Dallas. In the past, the Auxiliary has raised funds for supplies, equipment, programs, services, and its members have volunteered countless hours.

Methodist Dallas Auxiliary mission statement

To engage members of the North Texas community to provide funding and volunteer support for Methodist Dallas Medical Center and its patients, employees, and healthcare providers.

Executive board meetings, general meeting information, and Auxiliary meeting programs

Executive board meetings are held on the last Thursday of the month (except for December, May, June, and July) at 9:45 a.m. in the Collins Boardroom at Methodist Dallas.

The Auxiliary general meeting occurs on the first Thursday of the month (except for January, June, July, and August) from 10 a.m. to noon in the Hitt Auditorium of Methodist Dallas.

Programs include informative and relevant healthcare information, speakers from the programs and services supported by the Auxiliary, and Methodist Health System leadership. These speakers and programs keep members informed about how the Auxiliary’s involvement with Methodist Dallas makes a difference in the lives of patients and healthcare teams alike. In addition, the Auxiliary has lunches, entertainment, and fun!

Interested in joining? The Auxiliary welcomes new members and volunteers. For more information about membership, contact Mae Alexander at 214-507-9476 or masmokyjack@gmail.com.

Methodist Dallas Auxiliary Scholarships

In the 1950s, there was a critical shortage of nurses, much like today, and the Auxiliary stepped up to bring some relief to the shortfall. Miss Lela Putnam led the Auxiliary’s campaign to secure nursing scholarships, and then in 1966 a second scholarship was formed in honor of Mrs. Ed Wesson, a prominent member of the Auxiliary. Both of these scholarships are still active today.

To apply for the Putnum-Glover Nursing Scholarship or the Mrs. Ed Wesson Scholarship Fund, you must meet these requirements:

  1. Scholarship applicant must be a resident of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.
  2. Scholarship applications for the fall semester must be received by March 15. Scholarship applications for the spring semester must be received by October 15.
  3. Scholarship applications will be considered and approved by the Methodist Dallas Medical Center Auxiliaries' Scholarship Committee members. Scholarship applicant must submit proof of enrollment.
  4. Scholarship funds will be paid directly to nursing institute, college, and or other educational institutions.
  5. Scholarship applicants, after receiving the first scholarship, may renew their application for the following semester.
