About Mirian Okoye, MD

Board-certified in Family Medicine, Dr. Okoye cares for patients from adolescence through adulthood with a particular interest in non-operative sports and orthopedic-related injuries.

A native of Dallas, Dr. Okoye attended Ursuline Academy and went on to earn her undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University, followed by a Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences from the University of North Texas Health Science Center. She continued her education at Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis where she earned her medical degree and completed family medicine residency.

Most recently, she returned to the DFW area to complete sports medicine fellowship training at John Peter Smith Health Network, the nation’s largest primary care sports medicine fellowship program. She was able to focus on the care of not only weekend warriors and members of the community with musculoskeletal complaints, but also high school to professional-level athletes. This included coverage of Texas Christian University during an exceptional 2022-2023 season across all sports, Texas Wesleyan University, Southwestern Assemblies of God University, and a myriad of other events. In addition to her interests in women’s health and chronic disease management, she is also trained in diagnostic ultrasound, ultrasound-guided injections, prolotherapy, percutaneous tenotomy, orthobiologics, and fluoroscopic-guided interventions.

Outside of work, Dr. Okoye enjoys spending time with family and friends, cooking, DIY projects, working out, and cheering on the Dallas Cowboys and Mavs. She is fluent in English and Spanish.
