About Joseph L. Claiborne, MD

Dr. Joseph Claiborne, III a native Detroiter, two-sport student-athlete, earned an athletic scholarship to Howard University, where he played football and also ran track while completing his Bachelor of Science.

Upon graduation, Dr. Claiborne returned to Detroit, where he enrolled in graduate studies at Wayne State University while playing football and working as a Certified Personal Trainer at the campus' recreation center. Although satisfying, he endeavored to have a bigger impact in health care to his clients through medicine.

Dr. Claiborne is a proud graduate of Meharry Medical College, and he completed his Internal Medicine residency at the Detroit Medical Center's Sinai Grace Hospital. He is currently studying to become a fellow of Obesity Medicine.

He loves spending time with his wife and daughter and reading many books
