About Mirian C. Okoye, MD

A native of Dallas, Dr. Okoye attended Ursuline Academy and went on to earn her undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University, followed by a Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences from the University of North Texas Health Science Center. She continued her education at Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis where she earned her medical degree and completed family medicine residency. She returned to the DFW area to complete sports medicine fellowship training at John Peter Smith (JPS) Health Network, the nation’s largest primary care sports medicine fellowship program, where she served as chief fellow.

Dr. Okoye joined Methodist Sports Medicine to provide non-surgical orthopedic care to athletes and active individuals from adolescence to adulthood, focusing on injuries to bones, muscles, tendons, ligaments, and joints. She has served as a team physician for Texas Christian University, Texas Wesleyan University, Southwestern Assemblies of God University, local independent school districts, and community-sponsored sporting events. She has also provided physician coverage for various sporting events at all levels including Golden Gloves, NCAA Gymnastics, and the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA).
