Methodist Mansfield Medical Center Recognized for Excellence
11/06/2013

The Joint Commission Top Performer on Key Quality Measures 2012Methodist Mansfield Medical Center was named among the Top Performers on Key Quality Measures® by The Joint Commission for achieving exemplary performance in using evidence-based clinical processes that are shown to improve care for certain conditions. The clinical processes focus on care for heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia and stroke.

The hospital achieved a performance grade of 95 percent or above on a single, composite score that includes all the accountability measures for which data is reported to The Joint Commission, an independent, not-for-profit organization whose accreditation and certification is recognized nationwide. Methodist Mansfield also met or exceeded a 95 percent performance target for each and every accountability measure for data reported in 2012.

“Receiving this designation from The Joint Commission is truly a testament to the hard work and dedication of our valued employees,” said John Phillips, FACHE, president of Methodist Mansfield. “We understand that what matters most to patients is safe, effective care and our goal is to always provide compassionate, quality health care to our patients. This designation proves our commitment to that goal.”

The Top Performers on Key Quality Measures® program is designed to be an incentive for achieving excellence on accountability measures and to support organizations in their quest to improve performance. It also provides an opportunity for all recognized hospitals to celebrate their achievement.

“Methodist Mansfield is honored that our team of employees and independently practicing physicians were recognized by The Joint Commission as one of the Top Performers on Key Quality Measures®,” said Phillips. “The key to our success is providing positive patient outcomes through evidence-based care and exceeding our patients’ expectations.”

Methodist Mansfield is one of 1,099 hospitals in the U.S. earning the distinction of Top Performers on Key Quality Measures® for attaining and sustaining excellence in accountability measure performance.

Last year Methodist Mansfield was also recognized as a Top Performer for 2011 by The Joint Commission for achievements with heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia and stroke measure sets.

Methodist Mansfield and all Top Performer hospitals have demonstrated an exceptional commitment to quality improvement and they should be proud of their achievement,” says Mark R. Chassin, M.D., FACP, M.P.P., M.P.H., president and chief executive officer, The Joint Commission. “We have much to celebrate this year. Nearly half of our accredited hospitals have attained or nearly attained Top Performer distinction. This truly shows that we are approaching a tipping point in hospital quality performance that will directly contribute to better health outcomes for patients.”

Methodist Mansfield is also recognized on the quality check website (qualitycheck.org) and will be featured in the December issues of The Joint Commission Perspectives and The Source.
