Methodist Dallas Medical Center has been ranked at number 14 in the top medical facilities in the Dallas-Fort Worth region and at number 37 in all of Texas, according to U.S. News & World Report's Best Hospitals rankings released today and available online at usnews.com/hospitals. Methodist Dallas also met stringent benchmarks such as a minimum number of certain types of serious cases to earn a prestigious high-performing recognition for excellence in the urology specialty.
The annual rankings showcase more than 720 hospitals of the nation's 5,000 hospitals in or near major cities with a record of high performance in key medical specialties.
"Our commitment to quality, compassionate health care, and outstanding patient satisfaction is reflected in this recognition," says Methodist Dallas Medical Center President Laura Irvine. "We are deeply honored by this achievement and pledge the continuation of our nearly century-long mission to improve and save lives throughout Dallas and North Texas."
U.S. News created the Best Hospitals 23 years ago to identify hospitals exceptionally skilled in handling the most difficult and demanding cases, such as brain tumors typically considered inoperable and delicate pancreatic procedures. Hospitals had to perform well in 16 varied specialties, including cancer and heart disease treatment, and respiratory disorders. Patients and their families will have a far better chance of finding a U.S. News-ranked hospital in their health insurance network and might not have to travel far to get care at a high-performing hospital.
"All of these hospitals are the kinds of medical centers that should be on your list when you need the best care," said U.S. News Health Rankings Editor Avery Comarow. "They are where other hospitals send the toughest cases." He added that the hospital rankings are like a GPS-type aid to help steer patients to hospitals with strong skills in the procedures and medical conditions that present the biggest challenges.
The complete rankings and methodology are available at health.usnews.com/best-hospitals.
