Methodist Richardson Medical Center has been designated as a Certified Quality Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology (ACR). The ACR recognizes breast imaging centers accredited in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound and ultrasound-guided breast biopsy in addition to the mandatory Mammography Accreditation Program. This designation confirms that Methodist Richardson Medical Center's breast care program is among the highest caliber in the country.
The breast imaging services at Methodist Richardson are fully accredited in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound and ultrasound-guided breast biopsy. Peer-review evaluations, conducted in each breast imaging modality by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field, have determined that this facility has achieved high practice standards in image quality, personnel qualifications, facility equipment, quality control procedures, and quality assurance programs.
"Earning the accreditation was a very rigorous process," said Greg Cooper, director of Radiology. "We have proven that we are a quality breast center with the utmost attention to detail in all aspects of our care. Our use of advanced digital imaging technology, and our high standards for quality, helps ensure the detection of breast cancer in its earliest stages, resulting in the best outcomes for our patients."
The ACR is a national organization serving more than 34,000 diagnostic/interventional radiologists, radiation oncologists, nuclear medicine physicians, and medical physicists with programs focusing on the practice of medical imaging and radiation oncology, as well as the delivery of comprehensive health care services.
