Bolstered by vibrant and engaging Twitter and Facebook programs, Methodist Health System has been named one of the 100 Most Social Media Friendly Hospitals in the U.S. by NurseJournal.org. With more than 12,500 Facebook “likes,” 1,233 Twitter followers, and nearly 6,000 “tweets,” Methodist ranks 36th among the nation’s top 100 hospitals cited for social media.
“Having a strong social media presence is a great way to connect with patients and families while reinforcing the strength of the Methodist brand,” says Laurie Hesser, director of marketing, Methodist Health System. “This is especially important for health care systems and hospitals because patients often seek care at hospitals they perceive to be friendly, competent, and advanced. By engaging them with timely, useful information, we build trust with past, current, and future patients.”
NurseJournal.org evaluated the Facebook and Twitter stats for 730 hospitals to determine the final rankings. The list is intended to give recognition to the hospitals that are doing the best job of connecting with their patients and with the public through social media.
