Developed in conjunction with the American Cancer Society, the Cancer Patient Resource Center at Methodist Richardson offers an array of information and local resources on:
Free resources available to cancer patients at the Methodist Richardson Cancer Patient Resource Center include:
- Wigs and head coverings
- Children's area
The information and referral resource center offers a warm, accepting atmosphere and a sense of support and concern. On site at the Cancer Patient Resource Center at Methodist Richardson , a person may also log on to the Internet to research the latest information available on the website.
Patient Support Programs
Learn about cancer patient support groups and programs that help cancer survivors better cope with the stresses of diagnosis and treatment:
Cancer Caregiver Support Group
This group is open to all patients and caregivers going through the cancer journey. This is an open on going, supportive, psyco-educational group.
Support group members can experience and receive:
- Practical information.
- A safe and caring place to share feelings and learn selfcare skills.
- A place to develop coping skills and discover how one lives life fully in the midst of cancer.
- A place to share your concerns, frustrations, challenges, milestones, achievements and successes.
This support group meets the 2nd Wednesday of every month from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Methodist Richardson Cancer Center, 1st floor conference room. For question please call Aline Williams, LCSW, OSW-C at 469-204-6123.
Hospital Artist-in-Residence Program
Through the Artist-in-Residence program, a professional artist provides patients and caregivers with opportunities to create art during cancer treatment. Art therapy has been clinically proven to decrease stress and improve quality of life for cancer patients and caregivers.
Food for Life
Did you know that good dietary choices can help prevent cancer? Learn more in the Food for Life interactive series, where you'll sample new recipes and learn how to put good dietary practices into action. A $40 fee covers all four classes and includes healthy, delicious food samples. Class will be held in the kitchen on the second floor of the Methodist Richardson Cancer Center.
