Methodist Joint Academy – better informed, better outcomes
Offered at Methodist Dallas, Methodist Charlton, and Methodist Mansfield medical centers, the Joint Academy is a free educational workshop that prepares "students" both mentally and physically for upcoming joint replacement surgery, the best possible surgical outcome, and a faster return to normal daily activity.
Hosted in a comfortable classroom environment, the Methodist Joint Academy allows you and a small group of fellow joint replacement patients to learn directly from the multidisciplinary clinicians who are involved in your care – from scheduling and surgery to rehabilitation and recovery.
The one-day Methodist Joint Academy includes:
A concierge to greet and guide you to your classroom
A tour of the orthopedic floor, designed specifically for the needs and comfort of joint replacement surgery patients
Discussion with a small group of fellow joint replacement patients to build camaraderie and provide motivation and support after hip or knee surgery
A "uniform" – t-shirt and shorts with the Methodist Joint Academy logo
Free validated parking
At the Methodist Joint Academy, you'll learn about:
Getting ready for joint replacement surgery
Post-op care plan
Preparing for discharge
Recovery and beyond
