Asian Breast Health Outreach Project
Education and mammogram screening for uninsured and under insured Asian women
The Asian Breast Health Outreach Project at Methodist Richardson Medical Center provides education and mammogram screenings for uninsured and under insured Asian women over the age of 40. It reduces barriers to screening for high-risk Asian women in North Texas. Since 2001, the program has provided more than 5,400 free mammograms.
The Asian Breast Health Outreach Project is supported by grants from the Dallas County and North Texas Affiliates of Susan G. Komen for the Cure and by the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT).
Breast health seminars are conducted by staff members and volunteers who can speak the Asian women's native languages. Free mammograms are offered to qualifying Asian women who live in Collin, Dallas, Denton, or Tarrant County, and meet certain financial and medical criteria.
